and remember the heroic acts of bravery and Americans who lost their life
during the tragic events on September 11, 2001. The Advanced Placement Government Class will be preparing

There are approximately 440 students attending Pleasant High School, under the direction of Principal, Brian Sparling and Assistant Principal, Kirk Ballinger. Pleasant High School houses approximately 410 students with another 30 attending Tri-Rivers Career Center. In addition to the traditional course offerings, Pleasant offers Advanced Placement courses in Government, Senior English, and Studio Art as well as courses such as Advanced Biology, Chemistry II, Advanced Math, Math Analysis, and four years of both French and Spanish. Our high school has earned the highest rating possible (Excellent) on the State Report Card every year since the Ohio Department of Education began rating individual buildings in the 2002 - 2003 school year, passing every indicator each year.
Pleasant has one of the largest Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) contingencies at The Ohio State University of Marion, and Marion Technical College among juniors and seniors of any area school. Students taking these college level courses have traditionally earned an A or B. Our 2010 graduating class of 100 students received over a $1,500,000 in scholarships and grants.
Pleasant offers a wide variety of extra curricular activities in both the areas of athletics and fine arts. Our fine arts programs are noteworthy. Pleasant High School has a Concert Choir, Show Choir (Spartans in Motion), Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band. Both groups will enter many competitions throughout the year, usually earning very high marks. Additionally, students at our high school will put on two drama productions each year. They are a fall play performed in the elementary school gym and a major musical production performed at the Palace Theater in the spring.
Our athletic program continued to be outstanding last year winning seven MOAC Championships. Pleasant has captured nine State Championships over the years. Recently, we have won State Championships in football (2002 & 1996), boys’ track (2002), and baseball (2006 and 2001).
Pleasant High School has made several advances in the area of technology in recent years. All grades and daily assignments are on-line for parents to check daily, if desired. In addition, we have a computer lab and installed several computers in the library for student use.
