The library at Pleasant High Schoolis located adjacent to the cafeteria in the central region of the school. The library houses approximately 9,500print titles consisting of fiction, non-fiction, biographies, referencematerials, teacher/professional, careers, textbooks, paperback, and large printtitles. The library also has anextensive audiovisual collection that is available to staff members only. ThePHS Library also features technology in that it offers the use of twentycomputers to students and staff before, during and after school. The library's on-line academicresources and holdings catalog may be accessed via the Internet either fromwithin the library or from an off-site location. Information literacy skills have beenidentified as those necessary for students to live, function and succeed in the21st Century. Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehension as well as theability to locate and evaluate information, develop ideas and solve problems;are the key concepts central to this ideal. It is our goal in the Pleasant High School Library toprovide quality instruction, so that students may develop proficient library,research and computer technology skills. As students develop information literacy skills they become betterprepared to succeed in both their academic goals and professional endeavors.
